Bo is 5 years old!

Bo turned 5 years old on Thursday, August 20th!

Bo is such a funny kid. He loves to play Legos. I think he'd play ALL DAY if I let him.

Bo wanted an Army Man cake, so it had to be camo on the inside. I found a recipe online, so the inside was green, light brown, and dark brown camo.

Wednesday night I started making the cake, so the kids ended up staying up late to help. It was kind of fun in a weird torturous way. Ha!

Mae had licked her spatula and tried to dip it back into the cake. Stinker!

Usually Bo and Mae are the first ones up, right when their 'wake up' clock turns green at 6:45. This day, all 3 kids were up and ready to celebrate!

Bo is the type of kid who gets excited about every little thing. This was a small wooden monster truck that he assembled and painted. He was so excited!

Look at that face! All about a little $1 glow stick with a plastic ax head on it. Ha!

Because the 'camo' cake called for 2 boxes of cake mix (white and chocolate), Bo got his own small cake, which he decorated himself with his army men and candles. We did the birthday cake that afternoon, after Papaw and Mamaw came. Leigh Leigh and Connie also came over for the fun!

And he ate right off the cake with his fork.

Zeke didn't know that I was giving away M&Ms for the smiles. :)

We met Jared and Sambo for pizza at Danny's, then Bo went to spend some of his birthday money at the Dollar Tree. Arabelle was REALLY excited about the Dollar Tree trip!

Bo had $20 to spend and he came home with 19 items and a big smile. He is a bit of a hoarder, so he keeps all his "stuff" together. He bought army men, plastic spiders, snakes, stretchy frogs, glow sticks, dinosaurs, a monster truck, glow cars, a helium balloon, an army helmet, and probably a few things I've forgotten.

We had a really fun day celebrating our favorite FIVE year old! 

Favorite Dress

Can we just pause a minute and look (and cry, or is that just me??) at how grown up Arabelle looks here?

She chose this dress last weekend at Belk's when she was shopping with Mamaw and Papaw and it's her new favorite! 

We are so thankful for this sweet, silly, & funny girl God has given us! 

*Thanks for the dress, Mamaw and Papaw! Arabelle is already looking forward to Mae wearing it and wondering what she'll be wearing when Mae is wearing this dress. ;)

Arabelle's 5 Year Check-Up

Arabelle had her 5 year check up today and she did great! We weren't sure if there would be any booster shots or not, but she had already been worried about it. Lucky for her, no shots! 

She measured 47 inches tall and 43 lbs. That's off the charts for height (still!) and just over 50th percentile for weight. 

This child height predictor says she will be around 5ft 11in tall at age 18. It uses her current height and mine and Jared's height to come up with the estimation. Pretty neat! 

She really liked the blue gown she was given to wear while we waited (a long time!) for the Dr. to come in. 

Everything checked out normally! So thankful for a healthy girl!

Arabelle's 5th Birthday

Arabelle turned 5 years old on Friday, Sept. 20th. Since we had Bo and Arabelle's birthday party together back in August, we still wanted to do something special on her day.

Here she is the evening before she turned 5. I told her we could just skip her birthday and let her stay 4 another year, but she said "No, you can't stop me!".

We did a little bit of school work Friday morning, then went to town to run a few errands and picked up her best friend, Breana from school. Arabelle was SO excited! She also requested Ranchero's for lunch, so we picked that up.

They "rested" and watched Arabelle's new movie, then a few more friends came over around 3:00. Arabelle had asked for chocolate cupcakes with pink icing, so I had ordered those from the bakery and they were delish! 

The kids played all afternoon and had so much fun! Papaw and Mamaw came over for supper and Jared grilled steaks. She wanted "Papaw's peas", okra for Bo, steak, and Mamaw's cake for supper, so that's what we had!

Bo was instructed to put on some PJs and he came out in one of Arabelle's gowns. He will say, "I look like a girl!", but still wants to wear the gown because it's "Beautiful and cozy!". Silly boy.

We are so proud of our sweet 5 year old Arabelle and I'm saying it again....I can't believe how fast she's growing up!
